This collection contains pre-confirmation records from the Karelia region, Finland, between the years 1859 and 1921. The pre-confirmation rolls, also known as “Children’s books” or lastenkirjat were lists of children who had not yet been confirmed into the Lutheran Church. Records typically include the name of the child, parish, residence, date of birth, the names of the parents, and their residence.<br><br>Karelia is an area in Northern Europe of historical significance for Russia (including the Soviet era), Finland, and Sweden.
